The YWCA Greater Newburyport and the City of Newburyport will be hosting the 3rd Annual Family Friendly Juneteenth event Thursday, June 19, 2025. The event begins at 10 am on the steps of City Hall with the flag raising, followed by Key note speaker: Kabria Baumgartner, Dean's Associate Professor of History and Africana Studies, Northeastern University, Musicial Will Nelson, NHS Teen Poets, Proclamation: Mayor Reardon, The Rope Burners Double Dutch Boston based Jump Rope team and the Newburyport Black History Initiative's unveiling of the Caroline Cottrell sign at 11:30. Join us for a block party at Brown Square and YWCA campus with events including: lawn games, activites, henna, tattoos, mini black market, food trucks and much more. The day culminates with an Open Community Swim at the YWCA Lap Pool, 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Come and join the fun!
