Learn to keep yourself and your family safe on your backcountry excursions.  Wilderness navigation skills with a map and compass are some of the most important skills you can acquire to safely and responsibly recreate in our wilderness areas.  GPS is limited, requires batteries, and may not operate in harsh conditions.  Traditional map and compass skills, as well as other navigation skills, are much more utile and applicable to all wilderness situations.
