I'm Hungry in Greater Newburyport

I'm Hungry in Greater Newburyport

As part of its Invisible Neighbors Series, Pennies for Poverty will hold a community meeting on Wednesday, April 24, to build a better understanding of the nature and extent of hunger in our midst. Starting at 7 pm, the meeting at Central Congregational Church (14 Titcomb Street, Newburyport) will explore the stories behind the shocking levels of food insecurity in Greater Newburyport.  How do people in our area end up needing help to keep from going hungry? Where do they go for food and why don’t some people get the help they need? This roundtable discussion will feature local leaders in battling hunger and the stigma of being poor in our communities:

  • Lyndsey Haight, Executive Director, Our Neighbor’s Table
  • Rev Chris Ney, pastor at Central Congregational Church, which has pioneered several local meals programs
  • Jane Merrow, founder of the all-volunteer First Church Newbury Food Pantry
Gain insight into why people go hungry in our area and what you can do to help.
