Homelessness in the Schools

Homelessness in the Schools

Constant stress and every-day mobility of homelessness impact students’ cognitive development and academic performance. Intervention strategies to help children overcome these difficulties do work but are falling short due to lack of funding.  Hear what the schools are doing to help homeless children cope and succeed in school. Learn about the impact that a caring environment, predictable schedule, and regular breakfast/lunch can have on a child’s life.

This roundtable discussion features leaders from the Triton, Amesbury and Newburyport schools, which reported 342 homeless students this year, and is moderated by Ed Cameron, CEO of Housing Families. Join friends and neighbors from Newburyport, Salisbury, Amesbury and surrounding towns in understanding the impact of homelessness and what you can do to help.
