Deep Rising Documentary

DEEP RISING is a new, feature-length documentary that explores the urgent threats posed to the oceans by global corporations and organizations who want to mine the deep seabed for materials (metals) and profit. The film investigates how a demand for finite metals is driving the potential destruction of the world’s last pristine wilderness - the deep ocean. The ocean seabed both sequesters carbon and provides the basis of food chains: elements vital to the health of the earth. The deep ocean plays a critical role in slowing climate change - disturbing these natural filters could cause catastrophic consequences. DEEP RISING explores the complex energy issues facing our world and offers solutions on how we can solve our energy crisis without destroying our environment. This community screening will be a free event hosted by Storm Surge. Donations to offset expenses will be gratefully accepted at the door.
